Contacting the therapist to schedule your
appointment begins the process. Scheduling
the time, date, and location of your massage, as
well as the length and type of massage you want
will be decided.
Arrive fifteen minutes before your first
scheduled session in order to complete a medical
history form and sign a consent form. Any recommendations from other medical practitioners
will be reviewed. Be assured that all information will
be kept strictly confidential and secure. Various
options such as draping, choice of lubrication, and
music will be discussed. As your massage plan is developed, any questions or concerns about the
massage should be discussed thoroughly and
answered to your complete satisfaction before the
session.
Your massage session will take place in a quiet, comfortable room. You will lie on a padded
massage table designed for your comfort and
stability. A typical full body session includes work
on your head, neck, chest, back, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet with the abdominal and gluteal
areas optional. The therapist generally reviews the routine prior to the session to ensure that your
massage needs are being addressed. Typically, the therapist begins by applying gentle pressure which
helps relax and calm your nervous system. Gradually, the therapist increases and varies the pressure to
better address your massage needs. |
